Disability Insurance

I know that I have mentioned this in my blog before, but when I was pregnant for Mya I had a lot of medical complications. I was born with a congenital heart defect called Transposition of the Great Vessels. I had 2 open heart surgeries before I was 5 yrs old, but since then have been, overall, very healthy. That is, until I got pregnant...

During my pregnancy I ended up with Congestive Heart Failure. Because of this I had to be on bed rest and off of work for 11 months (the last 5 months of my pregnancy plus the first 6 months after she was born). During that time I applied for disability benefits and was, unfortunately, denied. I was told "pregnancy is not considered a disability". They didn't even really listen to what I had to say and I don't think they even took time to read the letter from my cardiologist explaining my situation.

I have recently learned about a great company called Allsup, which specializes in disability insurance. Allsup has has a 98% success rate for those people that complete the SSDI process with them. Since 1984, Allsup has helped more than 110,000 people receive their entitled Social Security Disability Insurance and Medicare benefits.

I just wanted to put that information out there for any of you that might find yourself in a situation similar to mine. I wish I had known about Allsup!
Thankfully Mya was born healthy and my health has also returned to what it was pre-pregnancy and I was eventually able to return to work.
