Love The Holidays

The next month and half are going to be very busy around here and I am looking forward to every minute of it. Usually I am one of those people that waits til the last minute to do her Christmas shopping but this year I am happy to say that I have started early and already have half of my shopping done. This year my sisters and I decided that, instead of exchanging gifts with each other we are going to buy gifts for one of our friends family instead. She is a single mom that has been on social security disability for about a year now. She has 4 young kids and we are so excited that we will be able to help them celebrate Christmas.

Another thing that I am looking forward to- my best friend, her 2 kids and her sister are coming up from Florida on Wednesday. They are going to be in for a shock when they get here, it has been sooo cold! They will be staying for Thanksgiving and Mya is going to so excited to see her little friends again.

I am planning to shop on Black Friday again this year, but I am only going to Meijer which, in this small town, is never really even crowded. I remember last year we got there about an hour early (4am) thinking it was going to be full of people. We went in and got everything in our carts and actually had to stand around and wait til the sale started at 5am. There were about 4 or 5 others that had done the same, and we were out of there and back home by 5:30!

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween! Right now it is only 10:30am and Mya is already asking how long it will be before "trick or treat time". It is cold and windy, and I think it's supposed to be like that all day/night. I'm just happy it isn't raining. At about 5:30 we are going over to my sister's house to let all the kids go trick or treating together in her neighborhood. After that they are having a little Halloween Party at their house. They have a really nice patio with an outdoor fireplace, so we will at least be able to stay warm while eating candy and telling ghost stories. It's going to be a fun night!

No Flu Shot For Me -Yet

Today has been a really long day. It all started when Mya woke me up around 4:00am. I don't know what got into her or why she woke up that early but she was wide awake and ready to start the day. That means i only got bout 2 hours of sleep last night. Today is also the day I had 3 daycare kids, plus Mya and 2 of my nephews.

After they all left for the day I headed over to one of the local schools to get my flu shot. This is the only place in town I knew of that had any available. Being that I have a congenital heart condition I am considered part of the "high risk" group and generally get one every year. When I got there, there was about 15 people in front of me. I had been there about 5 minutes or so when the nurse came out and said they only had 8 left...so I was out of luck. I am hoping that Mya will at least be able to get hers when she has her 3yr checkup next month.

My dad came over this afternoon to fix one of the bathroom faucets that had been leaking so hopefully I won't have anymore issues with that.

SO now Mya is finally in bed and asleep, the house is clean (well, somewhat clean) and it is almost midnight and I am exhausted. Time for me to go to bed. Goodnight all!

Birthday Party, Balloons and a Monkey in a Tree

So, my baby is now officially 3 years old! Her birthday was on Monday but we had her birthday part Sunday night. On Sunday morning I was running around crazy trying to get everything done. I went and picked up her cake, some balloons and some other items. I ended up waiting what seemed like forever in line because the barcode scanners weren't working. Finally I was able to get back home, finish cleaning the house and give her a short nap before everyone arrived. All the kids (and the adults too) had a great time.

Now that the birthday is over Mya is now counting the days til Halloween. I think I mentioned this in an earlier post but when I asked her what she wanted to be she decided she wanted to be "A Monkey in a Tree". I have no idea where she came up with that but I did end up finding her a really cute monkey costume. Now I just need to find things to make a decent looking tree costume for myself. The things we will do for our kids!

Bella True- Tips For Guys

With the Christmas shopping season fast approaching, I was recently asked by my sisters fiance what kind of gift I thought she would want. Now, being that they have been together for about 5 years now, I would think he would already know her well enough to know what she likes. But, apparently not.

My sister, like most other woman out there, loves jewelry and would always be thrilled to receive a new bracelet, necklace, ring, or earrings. Although I think Dave would prefer it if I actually went shopping and picked the perfect piece out for him, I instead directed him to the Bella True website.

Bella True has some beautiful jewelery (like the tennis bracelet pictured above). They also have a section on their website called "Tips For Guys", which gives 9 different tips and examples of what types of jewelery are best for different occasions. Armed with these 9 tips I am confident that Dave will be able to pick out the perfect Christmas gift!

Winding Down

I am finally starting to get tired. After my last post I actually got off the computer for a little while. I grabbed my Kettlebell weight and put in one of my more difficult workout DVD's and got in about 25 minutes of exercise. Now I am going to sign off for the night so I can take a shower and go to bed. I'm thinking maybe I should make that part of my nightly routine.
